On-boarding and training are the foundations of a new colleague’s general first impression.
Studies have shown that strong onboarding programs reduce time to productivity, lead to better performance, higher retention, and stronger workplace relationships. A new colleague starts to create and build their trust in an organization from the first day they begin working with a company. Throughout their orientation and over time a colleague develops loyalty and passion for an organization based on how they are onboarded, integrated, and continued to be utilized to their full potential. 80% of colleagues will leave an organization if they do not feel valued.
Feedback provides a clear expectation of performance. Learning what they do well increases a team member’s confidence. All too often, we lose sight of how impactful those benefits can be, however, when given at the right time in a respectful, positive, and constructive manner feedback is the key to individual and organizational success. They are more likely to try more, stretch themselves, and share their skills. Becoming aware of those areas that need improvement helps them improve performance more quickly aligning it with business objectives. An added benefit is an increase in the effectiveness of the manager providing the feedback.
